Program Objective

The following are our Specialty Programs. These programs are not licensed by the Commission for Independent Education. Upon completion, a student is issued a specialty registration from the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Program Description

McDougle Technical Institute offers the proper blend of theoretical instruction and classroom teaching practice. The student instructor develops skills in teaching the subjects necessary for the students goal toward specialty registration by following the school’s lesson plans and testing.

Evaluation

Upon completion, students will be evaluated for performance and comprehension in both written and practical guidelines of Florida law, HIV/AIDS, bacteriology and sanitation. With an 80% or better evaluation score, the student will be issued a Certificate of Completion. The student will then be eligible to register with the Florida Department of Professional Regulation.

Hair Braiding
16 Hours

Objective: To teach students the proper techniques required for entering the hair braiding profession.

Program Description: Theory and practical training in hair braiding techniques.

Completion Time: The Hair Braiding program is a two-day, 16-hour program.

Hair Wrapping
6 Hours

Objective: To teach students the proper techniques required for entering the professional hair wrapping profession.

Program Description: Theory and practical training in hair wrapping techniques.

Completion Time: The Hair Wrapping program is a one-day, 6-hour program.

Body Wrapping
12 Hours

Objective: To teach students the proper techniques required for entering the professional body wrapping profession.

Program Description: Theory and practical training in body wrapping techniques.

Completion Time: The Body Wrapping program is a two-day, 12-hour program.

Admissions

Students may enroll in all classes with a high school diploma, GED or by passing a Wonderlic Basic Skills Test. High School Students may enroll with permission, in writing, from the secondary school in which they are enrolled. At the time of enrollment in the Program, be prepared to submit the following items:

  • Submit identification and/or proof of age documents (Driver’s License, Passport, Student ID, Birth Certificate)

  • Social Security Card (Students may still enroll without a SS# but a SS# is required for licensure)

  • Submit High School Diploma, GED or Schedule ATB test ($25 Testing Fee must be paid prior to enrollment)
